Nylatron GSM is an engineering-grade cast nylon 6 (PA6) that incorporates finely dispersed molybdenum disulphide (MoS₂) particles throughout the polymer matrix. This solid lubricant significantly improves the material’s friction and wear characteristics, making it an ideal choice for moving parts.
Key properties include a low coefficient of friction of 0.35, excellent tensile strength of 82 MPa, and good dimensional stability with a thermal expansion coefficient of 80 x 10⁻⁶ m/m°C. Nylatron GSM can operate continuously at temperatures up to 90°C and withstands cold environments down to -30°C, with medium resistance to chemicals.
Dotmar supplies Nylatron GSM in rod and sheet formats, precision-machined to customer specifications. Our local Australian stock and fabrication expertise ensure short lead times and consistent quality for wear-prone components across many industries.
Key Features
- Low friction coefficient of 0.35 for reduced wear
- High tensile strength of 82 MPa
- Continuous service temperature range from -30°C to 90°C
- Internally lubricated with MoS₂ for maintenance-free operation
- Good machinability with tight tolerances
- Available as rod and sheet for versatile fabrication
Nylatron GSM is widely used in bearing pads, bushings, wear strips, gears, rollers, and thrust washers across industries such as materials handling, mining, construction, and general engineering. Its self-lubricating nature makes it particularly suited for applications where external lubrication is impractical or prohibited.
